Wedding and Bridal Party Appliqué
Updated October 15, 2026
Bridal party shirts and robes are a fun, personal project. Words like Bride, Bridesmaid and Mrs look best in a clean, elegant font and a soft color, and a satin-and-fabric combination gives them a polished finish.
Suggested settings
| Setting | Suggestion |
|---|---|
| Text | Bride, Bridesmaid, Mrs, Maid of Honor |
| Font | A bold serif such as Bevan for an elegant look |
| Letter height | 2 in: “Bride” is about 8 in wide; 1 in is about 4 in, 3 in about 12 |
| Satin color | Gold, rose or white, matched to the wedding colors |
| Fabric type | Stretch for cotton knit tees, Woven for a satin robe with a firm stabilizer |
Tips
- Satin and silk robes slip. Use a firm cut-away stabilizer and hoop carefully, or float the fabric.
- Elegant script is the obvious choice but thin strokes are hard to appliqué. If you use a script, choose a thick one and make it larger. See fonts for appliqué.
- Order a few extra words in the same design so the whole party matches.
