Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 2026
These terms apply when you use ThreadType ("we", "us", "the service") at threadtype.app to preview, order or download machine embroidery files. By placing an order or creating an account you agree to them and to our Refund Policy.
Our reseller
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
This means you buy from Paddle, who takes your payment, charges any sales tax or VAT that applies and issues your receipt. The embroidery files are licensed to you by ThreadType. Paddle's own terms for buyers are at paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms. If you have a question about a payment, a receipt, tax or a refund, Paddle can help; we are also happy to help with anything about the files themselves.
What we provide
ThreadType turns the lettering or appliqué design you set up on the site into digital embroidery files. For each order you receive DST, PES and EXP stitch files, a production sheet (PDF) and, for appliqué designs, a cut file for the fabric. We sell digital files only. Nothing is shipped, and we do not embroider anything for you.
Accounts
- You can order as a guest or with an account. An account needs a valid email address, which we verify with a one-time code.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access.
- Please give accurate information. We may suspend accounts that are used for abuse, fraud or to get around the limits of the service.
Orders, prices and plans
- Prices are shown at checkout before you pay. Payment is taken by Paddle; we never see or store your full card details.
- A generation plan is a prepaid bundle of file generations. Each generation you complete uses one credit. Plan credits do not expire and the plan does not renew automatically.
- Free trial credits, where offered, are a courtesy and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
- Coupon codes are single-purpose promotions and have no cash value.
Delivery and downloads
Your files are emailed to you and are available from the download link in that email and from your account. The link stays valid for 3 days; after that, contact us and we will send a fresh link. Please save your files once you have them.
Your right to cancel
If you live in a country that gives consumers a right to withdraw from an online purchase (for example the EU, the UK, Switzerland), that right applies to your order. Our Refund Policy and Paddle's Refund Policy (paddle.com/legal/refund-policy) explain how to use it. Because your files are produced for you and become available straight away, the statutory withdrawal right can end once you start downloading them, if you have agreed to that at checkout. Our 14-day refund promise in the Refund Policy applies regardless.
Using your files
- When you buy a design you may use the embroidery files to stitch items for yourself, for your customers, or to sell the stitched products.
- You may not resell, share or distribute the digital files themselves, or upload them to a marketplace or file-sharing site.
- You are responsible for having the right to use any text, name or logo you ask us to stitch. Do not order designs that infringe someone else's trademark, copyright or other rights, or that are unlawful or abusive.
- Fonts offered on the site are used under their own licences, which allow stitching text with them. They do not allow you to extract or redistribute the font.
Preview and stitch results
The on-screen preview and the production sheet show how a design is built, but thread, fabric, stabiliser, hooping and machine all affect the finished result. We recommend a test stitch before a production run. Small designs and very small lettering are harder to stitch cleanly and may not suit every fabric or machine. See our Refund Policy for what happens if a file does not sew out well.
Availability
We aim to keep the service running but do not promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change, pause or discontinue features, and we may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Liability
The service and files are provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or damaged garments or materials, and our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
Contact
